The Mackman Group, a full-service business consultancy with specialisms centred around market research, marketing strategy, brand development and human resources, hosted its annual fundraiser in September, raising over £2,600 to support Sri Lanka’s most vulnerable families in the tea estate communities. Surpassing last year’s total, this fundraiser for Sri Lanka was supported by businesses and individuals based in and around the market town of Sudbury, where the host office is based.
Paul Mackman, Managing Director of The Mackman Group, said:
These funds will make a direct and meaningful difference to the impoverished families in Sri Lanka’s tea estates. We are incredibly proud of our team and friends who have reached an outstanding fundraising total. Seeing what can be accomplished when people come together for a good cause is amazing. And, due to the success of this event, we are already setting the wheels in motion to host a fundraiser in 2024.
All of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the tea estates project run by Women’s Empowerment Sri Lanka. The organisation was initially founded to support female-headed households with their businesses or educational pursuits. They now raise funds to provide families with basic dry rations, essential during this time of economic crisis.
Thushara Dassanayake, Chair of the organisation, said:
The money raised will provide countless families with food security for two weeks, which is huge for those families who otherwise just don’t have food most of the time. We are incredibly grateful for the support and will ensure this goes as far as possible.
The Mackman Group is also a regular supporter of charitable organisations that are closer to home in Suffolk. The team regularly supports social enterprises and good causes, including The Bridge Project and the new Sudbury Arts Centre, by providing expertise and services pro bono. The Group believes that businesses have the power to positively impact society and the environment, supporting the narrative that businesses can be a force for good.
